I think the hiring of Marissa Mayer is exciting for two reasons: 1) they hired a very smart, seasoned person from Google and 2) it’s one of the first examples I know of a product manager rising to CEO. It’s probably a good time to buy Yahoo. If they invest in mail and their other key properties, they could outflank both Google and MSFT. Also, at $14 the stock is cheap. Even if she makes incremental improvements to product, it will result in new value through a possible acquisition.

I’ve been looking for enriching educational projects for my kids for the summer that bring together technology and creating. Here is a great list that I stumbled upon.
I am fascinated by how video games are being used to educate. Valve, the company that runs Steam and created the game Portal, among others, has an educational version of its game platform that can be used to create 3D images and games and puzzles. I have yet to check it out, but will soon.
